After a routine mammogram in February of this year, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. While this would be devastating news to most women, it was an especially unique challenge for me as a paraplegic who has spent the last few years fighting to get back on my feet. I was determined not to let breast cancer derail my progress! I underwent a lumpectomy in April 2019 and four weeks of radiation. I am proud to say I am now Cancer free! I continued my rigorous physical therapy throughout my radiation treatments and, while I am still primarily a wheelchair user, I am so happy I persisted and am now able to walk short distances and I continue to make extraordinary progress in getting back up on my feet!
